The Barracuda is a multi-functional integration module for select Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC and Hummer vehicles (please refer to the application guide for make, model and year compatibility) with a Navigation Radio. The BARRACUDA actually comes in three different SKU numbers; NTV-KIT211 is plug-and-play for the majority of the vehicles, however BARRACUDACTS/NTV-KIT240 and BARRACUDADTS/NTV-KIT270 are hardwired. ?
There are two types of Navigation radios available for these vehicles. One type (the most common) has a symbol on the face of the radio that says ?DVD Audio/Video? and the other says ?DVD Audio?. Radios with the ?DVD Audio/Video? symbol will play a DVD movie on the front screen in park from the factory except in Michigan where they have a no video up front law. Radios with the ?DVD Audio? symbol will not display any DVD image on the front screen at all but will play DVD audio discs.? The Barracuda does not ?add? a DVD player to a system that does not have one, nor does it add an A/V input jack. It simply controls these devices that are factory equipment and allows their use in motion.
For ease of use and verification of state, all programming and commands are displayed as text on the vehicle instrument panel. Two configurable outputs are also included with the Barracuda to power or trigger external sources. The Barracuda will allow any video that is viewable on the front screen, whether from the existing A/V input jacks, or from the factory DVD player, to be viewed in motion. In addition, it allows Navigation ?destination entry? while driving, unlocks the satellite radio category and scrolling features, enables OnStar dialing while in motion and enables DVD menu controls. If the vehicle is equipped with a factory reverse camera, or is compatible with our GMLAN cam reverse camera module (NTV-KIT072. Vehicle must have code UVA, UVB, UV8 or UV9 on a sticker in the glove box), the Barracuda can force the camera on (except CTS and DTS) while in motion. A front camera, baby camera or FLIR night vision camera may also be added to the system. The FLIR controller, normally a $650 option, is included in the Barracuda.
